I have seen how enterprise technology gets sold, priced and decided, and I have shipped AI that defends billions of calls a month. Every scale, both sides of the table, still close enough to read the code. This is the arc that built the judgment I bring now.
EMC, Sun Microsystems, then Dell. I came up on the engineering side, but spent as much time where the software met the market: the sales motion, the marketing, the analytics, and the rooms where executives and senior stakeholders made the call. Enterprise software is never won on the product alone. This is where I learned how it actually gets built, priced and bought.
At Microsoft UK I ran planning and operations for the UK subsidiary, and learned how a business that size really steers itself. At Skype, after the acquisition, I worked with the core team on data strategy, product strategy and customer insight. At Tesco, I watched data used as leverage: not to report on the business, but to get ahead of it. Somewhere across those years product and data stopped being two functions for me, and became one way of thinking.
At Hiya I owned product for consumer fraud detection in voice calls, the kind of system carriers like AT&T, BT and O2 build their networks on, with OEMs like Samsung shipping it in the handset. Adaptive AI and machine learning, fed by a honeypot network of lines that only ever ring for scammers, so the models never stop learning. I led the product and the high-performance engineering team that shipped it.
Production machine learning at this scale is its own discipline. It lives or dies on the team behind it, the data flywheel underneath it, and the nerve to keep shipping when the stakes are real.
As Head of Product at Smartnumbers, I owned voice-fraud and contact-centre security: critical-infrastructure software that banks like Lloyds and Santander screen every inbound call through before it reaches an agent. I built the product function from the ground up, hired the team, set the vision and the mission, and owned the strategy. When the software guards the line into a bank, the bar for judgment is absolute.
The work is the same as it was inside those companies. I sit with the team until the next quarter is obvious, and I stay while they build it.
I also build and run Specialist Scale, a patient acquisition system for private medical specialists, where I prove the method on my own risk before it reaches a client.
Find where the value is.
Ship something real.
Build the discipline that lasts after I have gone.
